Notes
- The awards were inaugurated in 1979 to honor achievements in cable programming that at the time were not eligible for the Emmy Awards Although cable shows have been eligible for Emmy Awards since 1988, cable officials have chosen to maintain their separate awards ceremony.
- The awards are no longer given. The last ceremony took place in 1997.

- The award's ceremony is broadcasted nation-wide and life for the first time (on WTBS).
1983
- The live broadcast of the ceremony on WTBS is interrupted by a backstage fire.
1984
- The ceremony is taped and edited into a two-hour special, which is broadcast on WTBS in January 1985.
1985
- The ceremony is taped and broadcast on WTBS.
1987
- The ceremony is broadcast live on WTBS.
1988
- The ceremony is broadcast live on HBO.
1989
- Ten cable networks telecast the show simultaneously: BET, CBN Family Channel, Discovery, FNN, Lifetime, Movietime, Nick at Nite, Superstation TBS, TNT and USA.
1990
- Twelve cable networks telecast the show simultaneously: AMC, BET, Bravo, CNBC, Discovery Channel, Family Channel, Lifetime, Movietime, Nick at Nite, SportsChannel America, Superstation TBS and TNT.
1991
- Nine cable networks telecast the show simultaneously: BET, Discovery Channel, Family Channel, HA! TV Comedy Network, Lifetime, Movietime, Nick at Nite, TBS and TNT.

- The ceremony is exclusively broadcast on TNT.
- The award's official name is changed from ACE to CableACE based on an agreement with the American Cinema Editors (ACE).
