The Washington Post reported this week that:
“[Apple], the Cupertino, Calif.-based company also disclosed that PhatRat Technology LLC filed a lawsuit Oct. 24 alleging patent infringement. The Nike-iPod product in question, developed jointly with Nike Inc., allow runners to keep track of how far and how fast they’ve gone. The company’s response to the complaint is not yet due.”
PhatRat Technology is a technology development company that incorporated in 1999 when “prices and technology to where they needed to be” and holds a portfolio of patents on athletic performance dating back to 1996 concerning “loft time and speed” initially created for skiing, but with consideration to other sports that would require measuring when something left the ground and when it impacts it again to calculate distance and speed (some notables are here, here, here and here).
