Application and my 12,
The present invention relates to a grounding receptacle and lug and has for its rime ob ect to provi e astructure in a wall ox whereby an electric appliance may be If grounded by using the plug which is provided for making the necessary contact in the operation of the appliance.
Another important object of the invention lies in the provision of a device of this na- 1 ture which is simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, thoroughly efficient and reliable in use, and otherwise well adapted for the purpose for WhlCh 1t is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the descri tion roceeds, the invention resides in certain novel combination and arrangement of arts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing: 7
Figure 1 is a transverse vertical section through a wall box showing my improved structure mounted therein,
Figure 2 is a front elevation thereof,
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bracket stra Figure 4 1s a side in connection with the device.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an ordinary wallbox connected in the usual manner with a conduit 6. The numeral 7 denotes an a U-shaped strap bracket having outwardly extending terminal extensions 8 which are bolted or otherwise fastened as at 9 to the flange of the box'5 so that the U-shaped strap bracket is disposed interiorlfy of the box. A spring clip 10 extends rom the bight of the U-shaped bracket between the legs thereof. A receptacle 11 is mounted in the U-shaped strap bracket and has an opening 12 to receive the clip 10. This receptacle is provided with other openings 13 .for re-.
ceivlng clips 14 of conventional construction for carrying the circuit current. With this device may be used a plug such as shown at 15 having prongs 16 insertable in openings 13 and a prong 17 insertable in the opening 12 to en age the clip 10. Prongs 16 and clips 14 w' carry the circuit current inthe usual well known manner while the features of construction, and in the elevation of a plugused 1927. Serial No. 180,897.
prong 17 and the clip 10 through thestra racket 7 and box 5 will ground the appliance.
It is thought that the construction, utility, and advantages of this invention will now be uite apparent to those skilled in this art wit out a more detailed description thereof. The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of arts may be resorted to without departing om the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
H ving thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. In combination, a wallbox, a bracket in the wallbox, a receptacle in the bracket havingan opening, a clip from the bracket extending into t e opening.
2. A device of the class described including, in combination, a wallbox, a bracket mounted in the wallbox and connected thereto, a clip on the bracket, a'receptacle mounted in the bracket and having an opening to receive the cli and circuit clips mounted in the receptacle. 35
3. A device of the class described comprising a bracket, means for mounting the bracket in a wallbox, a receptacle mounted in the bracket, said rece tacle having an o ening, a clip on the bracl et extending into t e opening.
4. A device of the class described including, in combination, a wallbox, a U-shaped stra bracket having terminal extensions fixe to the edge of the wallbox to dipose the bracket interiorly thereof, a receptacle in the U-shaped strap bracket having an 0 enin a clip projectlng from the bight of t e U- aped strap bracket into the opening.
5. device of the class described includ ing, in combination, a wallbox, a U-shaped strap bracket having terminal extensions fixe to the edge of the wallbox to dispose the bracket interiorly thereof, a receptacle in the U-shaped strap bracket havin an opening, a clip projecting from the big t of the Ushaped strap bracket into the openreceptacle in the U-shaped strap bracket; ing, other clips mounted in openings in the said receptacle havin an o ening, a spring receptacle. clip extending from t e big t of the bracket 10 6, A device of the class described comprlsthrough the opening. 5 ing a U-sha ed strap bracket having termi- In testimony whereofI aflix my signature.
nal outwar 1 dis osed extensions adapted p v to be secure to t e edge of a wallbox, a PHILIP F. LABRE.
