NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Dueling doctors take to the IPO market this week as two medical Web sites plan to go public.
Medscape Inc., "MSCP," is scheduled to issue 5.4 million shares in the $11 to $13 price range. AmericasDoctor.com, "AMDR," meanwhile is slated to raise $60 million in its debut.
But while the two sites are about medicine, they are not exactly competitors. New York-based Medscape provides medical information to physicians over its Web site, www.medscape.com.
Owings Mills, Md.-based AmericasDoctors is geared toward lay people, dispensing medical information, health news and offering a chat line to talk to physicians.
The two medical IPOs would follow the strong debut of drkoop.com Inc (KOOP), shares in which soared in their first day of trading.
In the week's other noteworthy IPOs, Jupiter Communications, "JPTR," the Internet research firm, is slated to offer 3.125 million shares in the $15 to $17 range, in a deal that could raise more than $53 million.
New York-based Jupiter specializes in Internet commerce research. Though it is not a pure "dot-com" play, the company is banking on investors returning to Internet-related IPOs, which have suffered in recent months.
Indeed, no IPOs priced last week, as many delayed their offerings. PCQuote.com Inc. was among them. The financial news and information site now plans to offer 7.75 million shares in mid- September.
Here's a roundup of the week's other scheduled offerings. AirGate PCS, "PGSA" plans to float 6.33 million shares, raising $100 million dollars.
HealthgateData, "HGAT," plans to sell 4.6 million shares in the $10 to $12 range. Hi-Q Wilson, "HIQW," plans to float 1.1 million shares in the $7 price range.
Intralinks, "ILNX," plans to raise $50 million in its IPO.
Leisure Time Casinos & Resorts, "LTCR" plans to float 750,000 shares in the $11 to $13 price range.
NETsilicon, "NSIL" plans to issue 5 million shares in $8 to $10 range. Nelson Communications, "NCI," is slated to raise $46 million dollars in its debut.
NetZero, "NZRO," plans to sell 10 million shares in the $9 to $11 range. Rampart Capital, "RAC," is scheduled to issue 500,000 shares in the $18 to $20 range. Finally, Oregon Baking Co., "MSEE," plans to offer 1.75 million shares in the $5 range. Back to top
