Many of you are aware that RING!Online of Michigan was harassing me over the use of the word 'Webring' and that their attorney previously sent me a cease and desist letter. Through the generous efforts of G. Gervaise Davis III of the intellectual property law firm of Davis & Schroeder P.C. in Monterey, California, they appear to have dropped their absurd claims to ownership of the word 'ring'. (Perhaps this was in light of the thousands of trademarks that Mr. Davis and his office turned up that used the word 'ring'? They have declined to respond to our inquiries.) In any event, I am most grateful to Mr. Davis and his firm for their generosity and support and hope that if any of you ever need an attorney with first-hand experience with the Internet and software matters, that will you contact him or his office. The web site for Davis & Schroeder is at http://www.iplawyers.com.
New Location, New Server
Wednesday, February 5
Finally, after two weeks of down time, we're back up at our new location (Cyberg8t, in Claremont, CA) on a brand spanking new server. The new location is physically closer to us and offers a faster, more reliable network connection.
